A MOUSE in my Room

Okay I am so not an animal person in the first place... earlier in this adventure Becky and Leigh had a mouse in there room so I knew this was a possibility. When I got home from Bucharest last night I was exhausted... so after a yummy dinner of pizza in the restaurant at the hotel I went up to my room. I must admit my room is super messy at the moment from unpacking my suitcase from Bucharest -- it was so hot and icky yesterday that I just wanted to fall into bed with a book.
So at 1:37am I hear something that wakes me from a dead sleep... a rustling by my bed... (now I should tell you that hotel beds in Romania are much lower to the ground than beds in America. I am maybe 2 feet off the ground if that.. so when you are lying down the floor is super close.. so the rustling was almost in my ear... ) so I jump up and turn on the light. I gently shake the bag I thought I heard rustling... nothing... I sit quietly for a few minutes... nothing... finally I tell myself I MUST go back to sleep or I am going to be worthless when 7am rolls around... off go the lights... I close my eyes and tell myself I can do it. Then another sound... on go the lights but I still see nothing.
Finally I convince myself that I must have just been hearing things (yeah, right) so I get up to go to the bathroom. I am sitting on the toilet peeing when this little mouse comes running into the bathrooom!!!! I literally squealed and jumped up and ran back into the bedroom slamming the door behind me!!!
Now I am wide awake... not sure that is a good thing because then I might see it again!! I am ready for the morning -- how on earth am I ever going to go into the bathroom to shower?!?
Oh well, guess I have no reason not to blog about Bucharest now...

HEAT, HEAT, HEAT

I have been walking around in disbelief that it seemed so hot here! I am sweating up a storm -- so happy every time we get in an air conditioned room. I keep thinking (and saying to my roommate Mariah) "I am from the South, I am used to heat! What is wrong with me?!". Then at lunch today Dan told us it is 93 degrees Farenheit today!! LOL I feel better -- I should be sweating and hot!!
The walk to the clinic is short and sweet -- maybe a 5 minute walk and there has been a breeze up until this morning. For future volunteers: the AC works really well in the rooms at the hotel, but in the restaurant you have to ASK every day for them to turn on the AC LOL I have been sweating by the end of breakfast :-) Bring light clothing!!
Dan also said it can get up to 105!!!! YIKES I hope not this year! ;-)

The New Hotel

My previous team was the last team to stay in Barlad. GV's has now moved all teams to the Hotel Raluca in Tutova. Later I will list all the pros and the cons.. Right now for me the largest pro is the fact that we are spending more time with the babies and are able to walk over and visit after dinner!

The rooms are a nice size for 2 people. The messy side is mine and the neat side is my room mate Mariah's! LOL Anyone who knows me could have figured that one out!

This is the view from the back of the hotel.. it is truly on a beautiful piece of land and staying here gives you a good feel for the Romanian countryside!
