36th Day in Romania/ Amsterdam

Barlad train station

Old factory across the tracks from the Barlad station

Passing another train on the way to Bucharest

scenery out the train window

Stephanie and Amy Stretch went into Bucharest with us
to explore the city before their final week in Barlad

The Gara de Nord (Train Station in Bucharest)
from the back window of the speeding taxi

Weirdly enough.. there is a Jaguar/Land Rover dealer in Bucharest, the capital of the poorest country in the EU... go figure!

The flight from Bucharest to Romania was uneventful. I had planned to go to at least the Anne Frank House while in Amsterdam but just wasn't feeling up to any more adventure by the time I actually arrived.

The hotel I stayed in... it truly was walking distance from the airport.
(http://www.citizenm.com go visit their website!! Even it is cool! LOL)

Huge billboard located across the highway outside my window.

my view -- my choice was buildings or airplanes LOL I picked buildings.

The room was only slightly bigger than my bedroom at home but I loved it! Very functional -- very Dutch... as you walk in the toliet is to your left (complete with a sliding semi-opaque door)... to your right is the shower with a clear glass sliding door. Just past the toilet is a mirror with make-up lights then the sink. There is a curtain you can pull for privacy before you arrive at the bedroom area. The bedroom area consists of a small chair (complete with a Molly doll!), 2 mini round bedside tables, bed, mood pad, and flat screen TV. That is the entire room.. I *loved* it!

mood light above toilet LOL

Shower

mood light above shower.. which is a rain shower -- very cool!

bedroom area :-) nice HUGE bed with fabulous pillows and down comforter...
I could have slept here for a week!

Chair and Molly doll (available in the gift shop for 19.95 Euros)

telephone and mood pad which controlled lights, tv, window, everything

Shot of the room from the bed... In my hurry to leave the next morning I forgot to take a picture of the "do not disturb" sign... it didn't say "dnd" it said: "Don't Come in -- There is someone naked in here!" LOL I loved it!

2 types of shampoo depending on what kind of person you are.. morning or night

Dinner from the CanteenM downstairs...

even the food boxes were cute!

The coolest water bottle I have ever seen! The lid is a cup! Why is there nothing this functional in America!??

Part of the lobby downstairs

The hallway

Me in the elevator on my way back to the airport

Covered walkway to the airport

Schiphol is the name of the airport in Amsterdam

just one of the many cool sculptures/decorations in the airport--
It listed cities around the world and how long it took to get there.

And that is the end of this trip to Romania... thanks for reading!
God Bless!

Happy 19th Birthday Stretch!! 8-8-09

After lunch on Friday we surprised Amy (Stretch) with a birthday party. Supposedly at 1:30 we were going to have a team meeting. Instead we had a party!

Amy's 19th birthday was actually on Saturday, 8-8, but since we would all be going our separate ways on Saturday we had the party a day early. Bogdan #1 carried out the cake as we all same Happy Birthday. Amy was so surprised!

Amy with her roommate Alex looking on

Amy with the outline of Romania I gave her for her birthday. LOL It only cost 1 lei (about 33 cents US) but it was so cool!! :-)

The cake!!

I'm not real fond of most Romanian cakes -- they are too moist.. but this cake from the bakery above Berlin (a market) -- it is delicious!!
