Apparently Alin had ripped a flower in half and was having a snack. I don't think I have ever seen a sunflower upclose before this.. weird, huh?
When we got into town Alin dropped us in front of the Penny Market. The rest of the group went on a city tour with Mihaela and I went shopping. I was looking for a bedside lamp to read by because my new room has very poor lighting. No luck though! I was able to find a couple of souvenirs and a surge protector for Stephanie.
Mihaela, who doesn't even drink wine, trying to help Delta, Trent, Carol, and
Colleen read the wine menu.
The yummy focaccia bread WITH SUNFLOWERS on top!! LOL Twice in one day that I got to see sunflowers in use!
Mihaela ordered our dinner "family style" so that we could sample a little of everything. There was everything from chicken cordon bleu (left), sarmale (traditional Romanian stuffed cabbage rolls -- top), stuffed grape rolls (top),to chicken schnitzel (bottom). We also had mamaliga (a traditional Romanian dish of polenta with sour cream sauce). Dessert was a Romanian cake. Everything was delicious and everyone appreciated the family style servings.
